Fishing has improved since the Canadian government practically eliminated commercial salmon fishing in our area about 9 years ago.

2008 was unusual as there were some slow times followed by fantastic times. Halibut fishing at Hakai was spectacular all summer. One guest caught a 57 pound King salmon in very late July.

The great weather conditions in the North Pacific Ocean are holding for at least another year and are resulting in plentiful food for the increasing size of all the salmon runs we have been seeing lately.

All projections, including ours, are for another banner fishing year in 2009. You could be the one to break our 76-pound record – someone has to do it!
